The Western Canada LeatherSIR/boy & Community Bootblack contest weekend has been scheduled for November 18 – 20, 2011, with cool events happening all weekend long.

Saturday,  Feb 18th: 10th Anniversary Party

We did what no queer thought could be done in the conservative wastelands of Alberta: We opened a leather bar and made it stick… And the city hasn’t been much help with the construction in the East Village over the past couple of years.

But we did it!  Hooray!  And we think that’s something worth celebrating.  We’ll be giving out free snacks through the night (hello bears!), officially unveiling our 10th anniversary t-shirt and giving out a bunch of them for free, and saying “thanks!” to the people who made it happen: You!  (Speaking of which, why didn’t you return our calls in 2005 when the Bow flooded?)

DJ Phon3Hom3 will be visiting from his post at Buddy’s Nightclub in Edmonton to drop beats and do the shopping cart and lick sweaty armpits.  Ok maybe only 2 of those 3 things (try to guess which ones!)

Every Friday is Leather Night

… and our staff wants to make sure you feel at home and comfortable in your gear.  So starting in February, all staff on shift after 9pm on Friday nights will be geared with you.  If you show up in your leathers (or rubber, uniform, fetish gear, etc!) on a Friday night, we guarantee that you will never be the only one in the bar geared up.

BLUF’s 12×12 Challenge

This is the 12×12 pledge, and it’s simple: We don’t want you to prop up the bar every night. Or to make a point of going out every weekend. But we would like to you step away from the PC, and get out in your gear.

We want as many leather and fetish guys as possible to try to make sure that in 2012, they visit their local leather bars, at least twelve times. If enough of us do, perhaps we can make a difference, and make sure that the leather bars we do have aren’t just places for special events from time to time, but somewhere we can meet like minded people, whenever we do feel like going out.
